ESM 90kg Finalist are in !

After Fireworks at the Northern Qualifier ..

This weekend was the final of the three under 90kg qualifiers for this years under 90kg England's Strongest Man final .. The Northern lads all competed for the 5 places at Spartan Performance in Consett in the North East ..

Adam Travis Deadlifts 300kg to book his place in the final of ESM 90kg

"The standard of the athletes was very high, nobody was poor and everyone deserved to be there" said  promoter of the competition Bob Dalgleish of Elite Strongman Promotions ..

It was a very exciting competition for VikingR Strongman Clothing as two of our sponsored athletes battled it out for the duration of the competition .

Event 1 was 180kg squat for reps which ex GB international weightlifter Adam Travis won with an amazing total of 18 reps .. Second was Shane Jerman with 14 reps ..

Event 2 was the Carry, Tyre Flip and Drag in which Stone lifting super star Mark "Pagan" Hodgson won with Shane again taking second place ..

Event 3 was the 110kg Apollons Axle floor to over head event where again it was an Adam Travis (7reps) and Shane Jerman (6reps) event ..

Event 4 was the Car deadlift hold and both Travis and Jerman dropped points with Shaun Plews winning the event and Kevin Douthwaite finishing second .. (awaiting confirmation on the result)

Event 5 was 260kg yoke for 30metres in which surprise package Daniel "General" Withnall won with Mark "Pagan" Hodgson in second place .. Shane in third .

Event 6 was the conventional Deadlift where Adam Travis blew the roof off with a fantastic 300kg pull and Shane Jerman closely behind with 285kg ..

Final Standings were 1 - Shane Jerman, 2 - Adam Travis, 3 Danial Withnall, 4 - Mark Hodgson, 5 - Liam Hunt ..

Meaning the final line up for Englands Strongest Man under 90kg is as follows -

TEAM NORTH

Shane Jerman

Adam Travis

Dan Withnail

Mark Hodgson

Liam Hunt

TEAM MIDLANDS

Eric Sahin

Tommy Yule

Stuart Parker

Nick Yardley

Sam Evans

TEAM SOUTH

Glen Kerr

Aaram Eghoyam

Micheal Rutledge

James Elliot

Tom Hibbert

Then with confirmation that James "Dominator" Ward is not going to defend his title this year it blows the title wide open

James Ward was unstoppable in ESM 90kg in both 2010 and 2011 .... He will be missed BUT his withdrawal throws the competiiton wide open

This will be an absolutely fantastic competition and strongman fans are in for a treat

Plus we have the return of the team  trophy where TEAM NORTH won convincingly with 216.5 pts, Second was TEAM SOUTH with 198.0 pts and third TEAM Midlands with 174.5pts .
